In view of the development prospects of new energy vehicles, new energy vehicle projects have been launched in recent years. At present, how much new energy vehicle production capacity has reached?
According to rough statistics from the public news materials of major companies, the planned production capacity of new energy vehicles nationwide exceeds 20 million, reaching about 26.6 million. The top three in terms of production capacity are Guangdong Province, Jiangsu Province and Shaanxi Province. More than ten companies have accumulated a total production capacity of more than 5 million vehicles in Guangdong Province, and Jiangsu Province has introduced the most projects.
However, after major companies announced their production capacity, not all of them were put into production. Some companies even fell because they could not survive the cold winter. For example, Changjiang Automobile, which holds the “dual qualification” of new energy vehicles, failed to survive this winter. The People’s Court of Yuhang District, Hangzhou City has recently ruled that it has entered the bankruptcy liquidation process. The company has previously announced that it plans to be in Guangdong. Foshan City in the province will invest in two phases to build a new energy vehicle production base with a total capacity of 160,000 vehicles.
Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the Travel Federation, said in an interview with a reporter from China Business News that there is currently no data on the overall production capacity of new energy in the country.
Recently, the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the 37th batch of new energy vehicle tax exemption catalogs. Cui Dongshu said that since 2020, the number of new energy vehicle manufacturers has reached 211, which is a decrease from 223 in 2018 and 224 in 2019. Among them, the number of passenger car manufacturers this year is 65, which is a relative decrease from 76 in 2018 and 85 in 2019, but higher than the level in 2017.
In fact, the development speed of the new energy vehicle market has not kept up with the expectations of auto companies. In 2019, the domestic sales of new energy vehicles suffered negative growth for the first time, and the first half of this year suffered a sharp drop due to the impact of the epidemic.
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2019, China’s new energy vehicle sales were 1.206 million, a drop of 4.0%; in the first half of this year, domestic new energy vehicle sales were 393,000, a year-on-year decrease of 37.4%. The new energy auto market, which has been declining for 12 months, is a severe test for many new car manufacturers. It was not until the second half of this year that the new energy vehicle market improved significantly.
The production capacity plan announced by the company is in sharp contrast with the real market. Due to the limited current capacity of the new energy car market, some car companies have collapsed due to blind expansion, some car companies have died before they succeed, and some companies’ plans to start production are significantly slower than planned.
In an interview with a reporter from China Business News, a senior executive of a power battery company said that in the past few years, they have had enough of the hardships of domestic auto manufacturers. They have frequently encountered some car companies in arrears due to difficulties. Now the company’s car customers are all It’s overseas.
Baoneng Group, which aims to do a lot of work in the field of new energy vehicles, may not proceed as smoothly as expected. A reporter from China Business News found that Baoneng Automobile currently has 36 wholly-owned subsidiaries related to automobiles. These companies include Guangzhou Baoneng Automobile Co., Ltd., Xi’an Baoneng Automobile Co., Ltd., Kunming Baoneng Automobile Co., Ltd., Guizhou Baoneng Automobile Co., Ltd., Hainan Baoneng Automobile R&D Co., Ltd., Hainan Baoneng Automobile Sales Co., Ltd., etc.
It is worth noting that the Tianyan Check shows that Baoneng Automobile’s “peripheral risks” and “warning reminders” are as high as 32 and 101 respectively. As a latecomer, Baoneng Automobile needs a process to adapt to the situation of the automobile industry and the drastic changes in the general environment.
